Lien sat in her room quietly with a book in her hands. Her violet eyes were focusing on the words that existed on the page. A soft scowl echoed on her small mouth as she continued reading quietly. Her petite form was dressed in a white qui pao with a gold dragon design coming up from the skirt of it. Her wavy blonde hair was pulled back into a side ponytail with a white hair tie. Some strands of hair hung loose around her face which only added to the teen’s childish features.
She was rather restless as she continued to stare at the words. It was the third time she was trying to read the current paragraph. With a heavy sigh she just shut the book and decided to leave the room. With quiet footsteps she walked down the hall, trying her best to keep her movements silent so she wouldn’t wake anyone in the large house. It was extremely early on a Saturday in the fall, for most children it would be a chance to sleep in and relax. Too bad Lien didn’t have that luxury for herself.
Even though being the “god” of her family’s zodiac was a nice idea to most in her family, it left a great deal of pressure on her small shoulders. She had a large role to play as the head of her family and was often the one who had to make all the final decisions for everyone. Her life was good there was no doubt about that, but she wanted to be able to have a sense of normality for a short while, even if it was just for a while.
As she neared the kitchen her thoughts drifted towards the many complaints she had been receiving from some of her family members. Most were not happy that she opened the Xing family up to the Sohma’s during the festival a few days ago. In truth she wanted to extend an era of peace between the families, only then could they really obtain an ending to the harsh reality for all of them. Most of the people in the family were too proud to acknowledge that though, which left Lien standing in a corner with no real response.
