Kae-Lin was busily trying to find the chocolate in the kitchen, she wanted chocolate, she’d dreamt about eating chocolate and by god she was going to get some chocolate. Normally she was not a chocolate fan unless it was on strawberries or ice-cream but she wanted chocolate and the sugar and the way it melted in your mouth and was just pure delight. However she was having no luck finding the chocolate at all. Draws were sticking out and cupboards were open as she rummaged through the fridge pulling things off shelves and sighed.
“Why… where is it gone…” she said all upset “Who ate it!” she snapped going all angry all of a sudden before she looked around and looked at the door raising a fist “I know one of you ate it so which one was it” she called out as if expecting them to hear her in the house. Letting out a sigh she bowed her head before falling to the floor and held her head in her hands sniffling, she just wanted some chocolate how hard was it to leave a little bit of chocolate in the fridge. She was so sure there had been some and now well it was all gone.
“I’ll never get any now” she sighed and looked up to the door, why was there no chocolate left, when she found the person who had eaten the chocolate she’d force them to go get more or she’d cry the house down or maybe land a bomb in their brain that’d explode in a few days, the thought brought a small smile to her face before it fade and she fell backwards lying on the kitchen floor looking up to the roof.

It was how he liked things. It seemed that no one seemed to care or pay enough attention to him, so they never told him to turn down the music. Secretly, he wished that someone would take notice and would try to approach him about the loud noise. Sadly, he didn’t get much notice because he wasn’t one of the cursed members of the family.
He was forced to live there for not only his knowledge, but his family that lived there as well. His mother insisted that he’d live there in order to gain good graces to become the family head. It was useless to him though. He figured that he would never able to find himself taking over that position and that he would never make his own mother proud. It made him a bit sad to think about it. It was pointless to even be here. Even worse, it felt like he was being suffocated every single day. Sometimes, people around the house wouldn’t even know who he was, so he tended to keep to his room and his gaming. It was better for him to stay out of people’s way.
He jumped when he heard someone yelling over his music. Of course, it wasn’t directed at him. He knew it never was. However, he was rather curious to what the problem was now with the family, so he rolled his eyes and paused his video game to stalk over to his radio to turn it down. He adjusted his glasses carefully and he placed his ear against the door to listen to what the whole fuss was about. He almost laughed when he heard it! Really? Seriously!? Chocolate. Ha! He remembered them running out the other day. Of course, he wasn’t the one who had eaten the last of it. He figured it was another one of the family members or even the half-sister that he despised so much.
He wondered why someone would panic that badly over chocolate. It wasn’t like it was the end of the world. It wasn’t like she needed it to live either. He sifted his fingers through his shaggy black hair and turn back to look around the room for his messenger bag. Some manga and game boxes cluttered the floor and some uniforms that he needed to wash soon for the next week of school He figured that he would find time to do that later. The whining was too annoying in the house for him to focus, so he figured he’d try to approach her and tell her that she’d need to quiet down and not make such a big fuss over something so small. After all, she could go out and play with friends or get some chocolate from her friends. He didn’t know what people did nowadays with their friends. It was a fact that he honestly didn’t quite have any friends. He didn’t mind though. It just gave him more reason to not become so attached to life or the things in it.
He quickly picked up his messenger back and tossed a few things inside and he quickly slide the door open from his room. It was time to stop this nonsense now. He didn’t understand why people in his family seemed to be so upset over little things. He greatly disliked that more than anything. He found his way to the kitchen with ease and he poked his head in to see the girl laying on the floor and staring at the ceiling. Obviously, that wouldn’t get you any chocolate. It wasn’t a smart thing to do in his eyes anyways.
He staggered into the kitchen completely now and stared at the girl and wondered if she would even react or notice his presence. She probably didn’t even know who he was in the first place. It was sad when your own family barely recognized you. He crouched down next to her and pulled out a box from his bag and opened it briefly to reveal a delicious smell. Pocky. He figured if he gave her a piece of pocky that she would probably quiet down so that he could play his games in peace. It wasn’t like it was expensive or anything, so he didn’t really mind. He poked her cheek with a stick of pocky. “Here.” His words were brief and kind of nervous. “Eat this and quiet down, kid.” He rolled his eyes as he expected a reaction that would probably cause him to jump. This girl seemed like she would be full of surprises, so he figured that he’d want to get out of this situation as soon as he possibly could!

Her stomach seemed to grumble under her shirt as she placed her hands on her tummy and rocked a little. Oh she was fading away to nothing, the one thing she wanted they were out of, the world was coming to an end, she almost felt like crying as she sniffled again watching the roof. The world could be such a cruel place when it wanted to be. Oh no the person who ate the chocolate couldn’t have eaten an apple or had some milk or ice-cream could. No they had to eat the chocolate and not bother to get anymore, oh that was it, she’d stock up on chocolate and hide it from everyone! Yea!
Her mind contemplated all the possible solutions, she could go out and get some chocolate she supposed but then again that required effort not that she was lazy or anything she just didn’t want to face the world right now not in this state, she wanted sugar and chocolate had that, it had all the goodness of the world in it that would give her the energy to face the judgemental people outside these walls. Not everyone as bad she knew that but still. Sometimes you just wanted to hide from the world for a few hours or the day or week or maybe longer and she was like that right now she wanted to do nothing but eat chocolate and maybe read a good book or watch a movie or something like that. But how could she do any of that without chocolate.
She drilled her hands on her stomach a little tapping a tune of whatever, there was no tune to it at all she was just trying to focus on something else other than her thoughts of chocolate as they had none, the only good thing in the world right now and they were out! Oh the person who ate the last bit better run for the hills. However her fingers continued to drill her tummy as she made a small face watching the lights on the roof. She had not even noticed someone had entered the room too distracted by the lights and her thoughts before she caught sight of a shadow followed by a sweet smell, wait was someone cooking! Had she been lying here for that long, she swore it had only been a few minutes. Of course something touched her cheek an her eyes widened before she looked over with big wide eyes, what had he poked her with exactly and what was here? Well he was here.
She eyed the pocky for a moment, oh that was good stuff too; he was offering her some… why? Oh he’d eaten the chocolate hadn’t he! The little snitch eating all the chocolate and not replacing it then trying to make it all better with pocky. Then again as she assessed the situation it didn’t seem to fit the profile, the guilty party would be hiding or running off to get chocolate not offering her something else. She smiled a little and took the stick of pocky from his hand “Thanks…” she said before he called her kid. Wait who was he calling kid! She was no kid, he looked like a kid… well teenager, what kid had a figure like hers anyway. “Kid! Who you calling kid, boy” she said quickly sitting up almost knocking heads with him as she took a bite from the pocky stick he’d given her, ahhh chocolate.
Of course calling her a kid was not something she liked, he’d have to be punished and so she plucked the glasses right off his face holding them up to her own “Oh wow… I see why you wear these” she added looking around pulling the glasses to her face then far off then closer again and put them on, she had no idea who he was. He had to be related to someone right though why else would he be in here. She looked at him and leaned closer “Nah you’re alright, you have pocky which is good stuff…” she added eating some more of her stick and watched him through the glasses despite the headache she had now “So what’s your name boy?” that’d be her new found nickname for whoever he was.

He wondered to himself why he had even bothered to think about leaving his room. Was it really necessary to do something nice? It was just for a member of the family, and a cursed member of the family at that. He didn’t feel like he should have to do anything for them. More or less, he wished that they would acknowledge him a lot more. Instead, he was overshadowed and found himself to be very much alone and outside of his own family.
He felt almost as though he were completely and totally out casted from society. In truth, he seemed to do that a lot of the time himself. He put up his own defensive barrier to keep others from hurting him and to keep himself from hurting other people. He figured that if he lived life like that that it would be simpler. It was better than dealing with constant chaos from hurting someone’s feelings. When people were hurt it brought pain to more than one person; especially if you had more of an emotional connection. However, he figured that even his own method ended rather badly.
He isolated himself for his entire life and in school as well after time and people came to see him as stuck up. He wouldn’t express emotions openly to them, so they’d try different methods of hurting him to see if he would be bothered and show any sort of feelings. After time, he had found it easier to just numb his emotions and cut them off so that he didn’t care what people at school said to him. That was when things took a turn for the worst. People at school had gotten violent with him and began bullying him and hurting him physically. Of course, no one really asked him about the bruises, cuts, or scrapes he came home with on most days. It was better like that too. He figured that no one would make such a fuss out of him, so why bother make a big fuss out of another person, right?
That was his main logic anyways. If someone wouldn’t respect him, they didn’t deserve his time of day to respect them. It was honestly quite amusing to watch this girl from his family mess act like it was the end of the world. To him, it seemed almost like he was watching a video of a small child who refused to do anything until they got their way. He hated spoiled brats. He figured that this girl would probably fit that definition, so he noted that mentally in his mind. He was quick to judge by first appearances and he could never quite stop himself from forming opinions about other people so suddenly. He bit his lower lip when she thanked him. It wasn’t every day that someone would openly thank him for something. He figured that he had done something right, so he felt quite relieved.
Then it hit him like a hurricane! He jumped back slightly when she jumped on his case about calling her a kid. He couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “You sure are acting like one. I mean getting upset over something as small as chocolate… What are you, eight?” He smirked lightly at the girl and his chocolate colored gaze didn’t seem to move from the girl. He slid his box of pocky back into his messenger bag and smiled gently. He felt like he’d finally be able to have peace and quiet now where he could go back to his video games and just be alone. It was what he was used to for the most part, so he didn’t quite mind going back to doing something like that. It wasn’t all that bad. He had all the time in the world to sit to himself and just think. That was something he enjoyed doing very much. Though, the thing that he seemed to dislike the most was how lonely things seemed to get at times. He didn’t quite care for that. It was sad to be so lonely all the time, but he figured that it was his fate because he wasn’t one of the blessed family members.
“H-HEY!” His voice grew louder when she took his glasses. His world became a bit blurred, but he could see a little, though a lot of things far away looked like little smudges smeared around. He cursed under his breath when he realized that he left his contacts in his room, so he couldn’t exactly slip them into his eyes to see better. He couldn’t quite get away without his glasses. He frowned slightly when she didn’t give them back. They were one of his favorite pairs and he didn’t want anything bad to happen to them. That would just make things more difficult for him in the long run. “G-Give me back my glasses,” his tone was rather demanding and insistent.
He ignored her questions at first as to who he was, but he wasn’t quite sure who she was either. He didn’t bother trying to learn who everyone was in his family that lived there if they wouldn’t even take the time to learn who he was. He held his breath slightly and just counted in order to calm himself down so that his temper wouldn’t take control of him. “I… I’m Sage Xing,” he said rather calmly down. “Now may I please have my glasses back..?” He trailed off in thought. He forgot about asking her name. “What’s your name?” He added that to the end of his statement as he extended his arm forward in hopes that the girl would give him back his glasses. He waited to see how she would reply to him.

She glanced to him and smiled before leaning forwards “Oh so young and still so much to learn about yourself and the world… poor little thing” she added shaking her head like it was a sad fact. When the body wanted something so badly it was all that was on the mind, it consumed everything you were and until you got that one thing you would continue to be incomplete, your life would seem to have no meaning at all and you’d slowly withdrawal until you got what it was you longed for so badly, what it was you ached for and cried for, what you fought for and could only breath properly again until you received that very thing. For her, right now it was chocolate. For many of her fellows she assumed from observation it was the longing freedom to be excepted by the world outside the walls of this family, to be with someone and be happy and not worry about transforming into your curse. To not have to worry about such consequences of it all. Ah yes and even she to a point longed for that but she knew it was unlikely to happen. She could live with that for the moment.
“Oh shh shh” she said placing a finger on his lips to make him be quiet as she looked through his glasses they were so different compared to fake ones, she was very glad her eyes worked just fine as she crawled around on the floor a little, for her they made her sight worse as she squinted looking around almost head butting an open door she before took the glasses off and shook her head heading back to him and knelt before him putting them back on, maybe this blurry nature she saw now is what he saw… oh she should get a mirror and test it out! “Naw so forceful but I don’t think you have the backbone to carry it out” she said smirking to herself. She did not recall seeing him much, she had seen him somewhere but had no idea who he was so he had to be related to someone the question was who was it?
Hearing his name she smiled a little, why did he stammer exactly she wondered as she took the glasses off her head and held them in her hand near her head watching him. “I wondered when I would meet you… mother use to speak of you until your sister came along that is. I bet that was annoying” she added studying him seeing if she got a reaction from him. Kae-Lin was not someone who like to follow orders really, she could respect a head of the family but one so young she only saw a spoilt little brat who needed a lesson in real life, there was nothing special about that rotten girl at all but she would be civil and she would help her because everyone deserved that. She smiled at his question; well he has said please… finally, it took him long enough.
“I’m Kae-Lin Xing” she said shaking his hand when he held it out though she knew it was for his glasses before she pulled her hand away and placed his glasses on his face once more “We should talk some time… when you feel like it. I think there’s probably some stuff you need to get off your chest” she added, from what she had heard about him she was amazed he had not come to her sooner but maybe he was one of those people who had to be approached first. She simply offered him a smile. “So are you going somewhere?” she asked looking at his bag and then him wondering where he was going, was it some place fun, could she go too or was it like some teenage thing only?

It seemed that he had sealed his fate the moment he decided that he wanted to be kind. No, he had already pretty much figured out that this girl was one that seemed to like to have fun. From what he seemed to observe about her, she seemed to be a tad quirky to him as well. He wondered if she purposely acted this way in order to gain attention or something of the sort. He watched her actions, her expression, and he wondered why she didn’t have better things to do with her life.
He figured that she should have something fun to want to do. He guessed that at the very least that this woman would have friends outside of the family; female friends at least. He always seemed to take for granted that he could have friends inside and outside of the family and gender did not matter. This was merely because he was not cursed. However, he still isolated himself just like his family tended to do and he kept himself from having friends. He didn’t want to get close to people. It was just caused too many emotions that seemed to overwhelm him.
When she spoke to him about being young he frowned. How dare she insult his age! How dare she! He felt that it was extremely rude of her to call him young. It was a fact that she was older than him, but in reality, Sage felt that the way you acted was what should matter a lot more. He rolled his deep chocolate colored orbs at her and smirked. “At least I act my age. I’m pretty sure you’re older than me, but look at you… You act as though you’re a small child. Why? No one will respect you if you act like that.” He found himself crossing his arms as he finished his statement. It was quite true to an extent. No one would respect an adult who acted like a small child. Then again, even when you decided to act mature it was no guarantee that you would be respected or treated like an adult.
He blinked several times when he was shushed and found his gaze go to her finger that found its place on his lips. Was she seriously trying to shush him? He found his temper getting the better of him, but he tried to keep breathing in and out in hopes that things would smooth over. He watched as she crawled around, which he thought was completely foolish, and nearly crashed. Man, this girl was just ridiculous! Was she purposely trying to wear on his patience? He figured that she was maybe even testing him to an extent and he wondered if his half-sister probably put her up to this. It wouldn’t be something his mother was capable of planning. If his mother wanted to test him she would have hired someone far more professional to make sure that he was taught things more properly.
Now when she didn’t think he had the backbone to carry out his threat he felt his fingers curl into fists in his hands. This girl really seemed to press his buttons. “Looks can be deceiving,” he hissed in mid-rage as he tried to figure out if she didn’t think he was capable of carrying out his threat because of his appearance. Sure, he looked pretty easy to bully and beat up. However, he could take many hits over and over and wouldn’t even show emotions. He would lock those feelings down deep inside of his heart and he wouldn’t let them out no matter what. His feelings and his tears were rarely seen by other’s since he liked to keep to himself for the most part.
He blinked slightly when she had spoken again. Did she really try to sympathize with him? After all, it seemed like she didn’t know who he was by appearance. It took a name to actually give him acknowledgement. He was the forgotten son. He was the son who was fading from the family’s existence. There was very little that he could do, but he was determined to find some way to regain what was taken from him. When the girl had mentioned his half-sister he seemed to snap. “Don’t speak about her in front of me!” He was shaking with so much rage now that he was shocked by how upset he was. “She has everything… You should be talking with her! Don’t waste your time on someone so invisible like myself. Why would you bother wasting your time talking to someone like me?”
His anger was the clearest emotion that he could express out loud. Even though what he spoke was sad and would make any normal person cry, Sage kept back the tears. He kept the sadness from filling his eyes and his voice. There was no possible way that he’d let his feelings out; especially to some girl from the family. He figured she’d probably run off to his sister after this and tell her everything. He didn’t even feel like caring though. He wanted to have back what was supposed to be his. However, he knew that he would more than likely never get that or have a chance at having it back again. Sage was a very bitter person.
He felt like he wanted to escape and run away. There really was no place to run off to. There was no place to go even if he did get his glasses back from her. He frowned when she shook his hand at first. He was getting upset that she wouldn’t give him back his glasses. However, he blinked slightly when she introduced herself. The name rang a bell from some of the things that he had heard in the past around the house. “So, you’re the one whose father ran out on your family, am I right? That good for nothing man left you all alone with your mother to struggle; from what I’ve heard you should rather dislike him, right?” He wondered how this girl felt after dealing with different hardships in her life. Of course they were quite different from his, but each member from the family had some sort of struggle in their life that they just could or couldn’t get past that seemed to affect their life at some point.
Now her words were just the icing on top of the cake! Did she honestly think he was stupid enough to just open up that easily to a woman that he had just started talking to!? Wow, was she wrong. He shook his head at her to decline her offer. “Sorry. I’d rather keep my mind and thoughts to myself. You never know who’ll go running off with fresh gossip to spread around to ruin someone.” He sounded so bitter and cold with his words. He was thankful though that she had finally returned his glasses and he could see again. He made sure his messenger bag was secure on his shoulder and when she asked him another question he rolled his eyes at her. “I’m going off to be alone; no special places, no exciting adventures either. I’m just going out to have some alone time away from this disgusting place.” He wondered if his words would scare her enough to give up on him. Most people, usually at school, would be terrified enough from his tone of voice and would instantly give up without even trying. He turned slightly and wondered if she would either follow or stop him. He hoped that she wouldn’t hug him either. He would surely get in trouble for messing around too much! After all, she’d transform since he wasn’t one of the family member’s with the curse.

She simply smiled a little at him and shook her head “There are more important things in life than simple respect” she added and while she admitted respect was an important value to have it was not the essence of life and making one happy. Having fun was something that people needed to do because it allowed one to be loose and laugh for a change and you might look like a fool and an idiot, you might look childish and pathetic but so long as it made you happy then who cared what other people thought. In her mind you could not go living life with the wonders of what other people thought about it, it had to be about what you thought of yourself and who you were nothing else in her mind mattered. She simply though smiled at him and then shushed him.
It was rather amusing from her point to see his reaction as it was for anyone when she acted as such being serious all the time, worry about others all the time was so tiresome and sometimes she just needed to let loose and have some fun and she still was annoyed he’d called her a child so he could suffer for a bit, push his buttons until he exploded, she knew how to get to people and how to read them. Unfortunately she normally took on their emotions and became an emotional wreck herself.
She looked back to him and nodded her head indeed looks could be deceiving she could only imagine what he thought of her though how much of what he saw was really her did she wonder as she sat before him again “Wise words indeed, you should follow them” she said and sighed “I can only imagine what you think of me… though I really wanted chocolate… hmm good stuff that” she said drifting from the topic at hand as she thought about chocolate and smiled, she loved chocolate… at times that was like now. Though she gave him his glasses back and mentioned his sister or half-sister whatever she was to him as that’s where she knew him from, from her.
His reaction was rather amusing to her as she let her hands rest in her lap watching him. Hmm issues right there between him and his sister though she could understand it. He was supposed to be head and instead his no for good little sister was, a girl who had no brains what so ever and had so much to learn about life. Did she put up with half the shit his sister gave her, no, she didn’t care if the kid was the head of the house to her the child was just that, a child. Plus she knew a lot about many of the zodiacs, she was very observant and good listener, she kept things hidden and a secret from others but she knew them very well or so she’d like think. “Why would I talk to someone so clear when talking to someone invisible is so much more fun?” she asked him tilting her head to the side a little as her hair fell to one side and she smiled studying him. She however made her face go upright again “You really believe yourself to be nothing don’t you. I talk to you because I can see you even if others cannot… and you have a deep emotion inside you which I personally find fascinating” she added. He showed such hatred on the topic of his sister she would really love to talk to him about that one day but she would let him speak of it on his own terms, in his own time. She doubted he was just someone to open up, no she was under the impression he was someone who needed another’s respect and trust before he fully opened up.
Of course he changed the subject onto her and she couldn’t help but smile inside to that, he was running and she didn’t blame him. He was avoiding the subject and trying to turn it onto her… well this was not one of her professional talks so she’d let it go for the moment at least. A small though frown did spread across her face, she did not like people talking about her family, her mother who’d simply given up and a father who could not look at his daughter because he could not hold her. “Hmm you might have a point and yet he showed more kindness to me than my own mother did… he left but he had better reasons for leaving and he would write to me, that showed some form of love there. He also allows me to see my two younger siblings which if that is not an act of love and kindness then I know not what is. I understand though why so many people do not understand that and point the finger to him instead of me or my mother” she added rather calmly, she wasn’t going to let him know he’d gotten to her in some way.
She however nudged in the fact if he ever needed to talk he could come to here, it was why she was here and not back home in China, she was the psychologist of the family she was here to keep an eye on everyone and help those who needed it in whatever way she could. She simply shook her head “What kind of person would I be if I did that… plus I have no interest in talking about other people’s business to others, it defeats the purpose of trust and respect now doesn’t it” she stated pointing out that respect thing again he seemed to like so much. Though he got up to leave and she sighed and pouted “You’re such a party pooper” she mumbled and got up following him “You know what I think… you need a hug”[/] she added and jumped at him to give him a hug, she always hugged people and he knew about the curse so it wouldn’t be that much of a problem really because he didn’t have to worry about anything other than her claw nipping him on the nose like she had a habit of doing in crab form of course he might be fast enough to jump out the way in which case she’d just chase him for her own amusement for a bit. Though if she was able to hug him and turn it would be a good excuse to have him stay to talk to her a little longer, the house was too quiet.
